Hi, I’m back from my holidays and will continue work on SABnzbd for OS X.

To start with the bad news: I did some research regarding the (easy and fast) adding of py-openssl to allow downloading from ssl-encrypted servers. Unfortunately this requires some work and I think it’s a beter idea to include SSL in the SABnzbd core. (see this feature request for SABnzbdPlus)

Which brings me to the good news. Shypike started a new project called SABnzbdPlus! Because of all the great new planned features and because tdian stopped working on the SABnzbd core, I decided to join Shypike. In the next weeks we’ll try to merge the OS X changes into the SABnzbdPlus development branch. Which also means that the sourcecode for SABnzbd for OS X will be available so you can “roll your own”

To organise all the bugreports and feature requests, and to give everybody insite in what’s already been requested, I’ve created a devlog page (see menubar, top of page). In a few days I’ll be leaving for holidays so I’m currently not working on any of the issues (ok, ok, a little on the preferences-window). When I start working on a issue I’ll highlight the issue or something like that. We’ll see!

Finally it’s finished. I received a lot of feedback regarding the “application not responding” bug / feature. I resolved this issue by threading the main SABnzbd function from a real small PyObjC application shell. Anyways, enough with the chitchat, here it is for you to enjoy!

One more thing: SABnzbd 0.3 is a beta version. Please post your issues in the comments!

New features (the 0.2.7 SABnzbd release, the new NOVA theme) aren’t included yet. I will start to include these features in the next version(s). Thanks all!

Finally: a new version is coming! I created a tiny application framework in pyobjc around the sabnzbd daemon. The “application not responding” message is now gone! Stay tuned.
